The Pine - Oak Rocky Woodlands Ecological System is not common in Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (NHP). It occurs in scattered stands on steep rocky slopes in Maryland Heights with one mapped stand in Loudoun Heights. Chestnut oak and Virginia pine are found in the open canopy. The only natural community in this ecological system in Harpers Ferry NHP is the Chestnut Oak - Virginia Pine Woodland. Any other natural communities in this ecological system are beyond the borders of the park.
