The Alkaline Glades and Woodlands Ecological System is uncommon in Harpers Ferry National Historical Park (NHP). It consists of small grassy slopes with patches of eastern red-cedar. The soil is dry and rocky, yet fertile. The only natural community in this ecological system in Harpers Ferry NHP is the Red-cedar Limestone Glade. Any other natural communities in this ecological system are beyond the borders of the park.
