Where to See It

The Bedrock Floodplain Forest grows on bedrock shelves or rocky bars in and along steep, fast-moving sections of the Potomac and Shenandoah rivers. On the interactive map of Harpers Ferry NHP, this natural community is grouped with another similar community, under the name “Riverscour Woodland Complex.” These communities are mapped together because individually they may exist in patches smaller than the scale used for this map and/or they may occur together in mosaic fashion.
